Bio:
Eyes of Verotika began in september of 2001 in Omaha Nebraska. The band first started as a joke grindcore band that sang songs mainly about the television phenomenon "Full House". We played one show with the
original lineup, Aaron Broveak on guitar and vocals (had never played guitar or
sang before starting the band) Travis Gerlecz on bass and Bryce Hotz on drums. We were all 16 years old and it was just something to do for fun. A few months passed and we got serious with the band. As we were all going through the
normal high school drama and depression, we started expressing ourselves and lives in the lyrics and added melodic elements as well as structure. Quite the change from the stuff we first started playing. We never really did much as a band back then, just got together and played and hung out a lot.
In the spring of 2002, Travis decided to leave the band and focus on other things in his life. Taking his place was Chris Kelley of the legendary
Omaha band Suttercane. We were all in other bands that were touring and recording around that time so not much went on with the band. It wasnt until
that winter that we started playing shows and traveling around the midwest on the weekends to play. We played a lot of shows and had a lot of fun with another Omaha band, Caught In The Fall, who also happened to be some of our
best friends (Aaron plays drums in the band as well). It only seemed natural to release a split LP together, so thats what we did. We also
toured most of the eastern U.S. in June of 2003 with Caught In The Fall and
Robots Don't Cry (also from Omaha, our best friends and Chris' other band).
After almost 3 years in the band and being a big part of Eyes Of Verotika, a mutual agreement was made and Bryce left the band. Eyes of Verotika had become such a huge part of our lives that we decided to continue with a
new drummer. Close friend Scott Hillabrand joined the band immediately after Bryce left in April of 2004. Since then we have released a full length LP and played a lot of shows around Omaha. We soon hope to be able to tour the
country (we'd also love to tour Europe), record some more records and do splits with our friends bands. This band has always been and will always be
3 close friends playing music together and sharing their emotions, stories and love for punk rock with anyone who wants to listen.
