Init Records is a DIY record label based in Sioux Falls, SD. Originally located in Mankato, MN, the label was founded in January 2001 with the release "What I Should Have Said Volume One" by The Vidablue (Ten Grand). In May 2003 the label relocated to Sioux Falls, SD.
Since the label was founded, Init Records has released nearly 50 releases from bands like The Vidablue/Ten Grand, The Spirit Of Versailles, Caligari, Mahkato, Forstella Ford, The Blinding Light, Meth And Goats, Dispensing Of False Halos, The Black Soul Choir, Tora Tora Torrance, Swing By Seven, Phoenix Bodies, Enkephalin, Anodyne, Calling Gina Clark, The Abandoned Hearts Club, Sinking Steps Rising Eyes, Tyranny Of Shaw, Eyes Of Verotika, Rickyfitts, In The Face Of War, Back When, The Setup, Examination Of The, Kite Flying Society, Raein, Since By Man, The Assailant, Castle, Tornavalanche, Battlefields, Hewhocorrupts, Building Better Bombs, Høst, Kidcrash, Red Knife Lottery, Cougar Den, and Hammerlord.
From day one the emphasis of Init has been to put out aesthetically pleasing records and compact discs from hard working bands. There are no fancy offices, college interns, publicity agents, or any of the record industry jazz that "independent" record labels so often try to buy in to. Init Records is simply a one-man operation founded with punk rock DIY ethics. I send out mailorders within a week of getting them and I use recycled paper and plastic in the production of Init releases whenever and wherever possible. I never want to compromise my personal ethics and beliefs to make a dollar. I want kids to purchase Init releases from independent record stores and distros and I try to keep my prices, both wholesale and mailorder, as low and reasonable as possible.
Init Records is exclusively distributed by the Lumberjack Mordam Music Group.

You can also find Init Records releases from Ebullition, Slave Union, Revelation Records, Sound Of California, Relapse Records, Very Distro, Vinyl Junkie Distro, Vinyl Collective, Choke Inc., No Idea Records, Interpunk, and more.
DEMO POLICY:
Although I have enjoyed reading the required demo essays over the past several years, Init Records no longer accepts nor listens to unsolicited demos.
